Acumen Investment team, led by Rana Adawi, brings more than 80 years of combined experience in the financial services industry.

Mrs. Rana Adawi

Chairperson - Acumen Asset Management

Mrs. Rana Adawi comes with prime expertise in Asset Management and over 22 years of experience in the financial services industry with leading international and regional financial institutions. Her previous roles include Head of Research in Fleming CIIC Securities.

Managing Director of Egyptian Portfolio Management Group, the portfolio management arm of the region’s largest investment bank EFG-Hermes. Under her mandate was the management of Egypt’s largest local mutual funds and equity portfolios of high-net-worth individuals investing in the Egyptian stock market. Total assets under her direct management exceeded EGP 5bn. Mutual funds managed by her were ranked 1st through 3rd for three consecutive years (2005, 2006 and 2007) among all competing Egyptian funds, and beating the index by no less than 50%.

In 2010, Mrs. Adawi, along with Mr. Hesham El Sewedy; a prominent Saudi business figure, and Mr. Mohamed Abdalla; founder of Coldwell Banker Egypt founded Acumen Holding with a paid-in capital of EGP 30 million.

Mrs. Rana Adawi  is the Chairperson of Acumen Asset Management. The company is managing Egypt’s Top performing balanced fund “El Kheir Fund” that ranked number one in cumulative performance for three years from 2012-2014 and Bank Audi’s Islamic fund “Ezdehar”, the first fund to be launched in Egypt after the revolution and was also ranked number one amongst all Islamic funds in Egypt in 2015.

Mrs Adawi also manages portfolios of public sector banks, public and private institutions, and high-net-worth individuals with a total AUMs of USD 120 million.

Mrs Rana Adawi was recently recognized as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Women in the economy in Egypt in 2016 in a ceremony that was organized by one of Egypt’s top financial magazines under the auspices of the Prime Minister of Egypt Sherif Ismail . 

Mrs Adawi  is also a member of the Top 50 Committee that is taking an active role in the economic development of the country. 

 

Sherine Fadel

Managing Director - Acumen Asset Management

Sherine Fadel joined Acumen Asset Management as its Managing Director in February 2019.  Mrs. Fadel was a founder of Beltone Asset Management where she played multiple roles from the date of joining in June 2004. She joined Beltone as a portfolio manager responsible for cash management and short-term fixed income products that reached more than EGP 4Bn. She established and headed different departments within the asset management division among which was the back office department, where she employed a straight through processing through acquiring and implementing an international portfolio management system.  She also established and managed the middle office department where she was an important member of the committee launching multiple innovative products to the market. Mrs. Fadel was the managing director for the first ETF Company in Egypt and the first appointed administration company in Egypt. Before joining Beltone, Mrs. Fadel was an assistant equity portfolio manager and was a member of the Egypt mandate at EFG-Hermes Holding, her front office responsibilities included the coverage of several sectors in Egypt, in addition to being an investment committee member. Mrs. Fadel joined EFG-Hermes in 1996. Mrs. Fadel holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Banking and Finance from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport.

Nader Ekdawi

Deputy Managing Director

Mr. Nader Ekdawi comes with over 12 years of experience in the financial services industry, seven of which he spent at EFG-Hermes. He joined Acumen Asset Management upon establishment.

His last position was Vice President and Head of Equity and Derivative Trading in the Asset Management arm of EFG-Hermes. In addition, Mr. Ekdawi was responsible for managing a team of five traders, trading in 11 different MENA equity markets. He currently holds the position of Deputy Managing Director at Acumen Asset Management

May El Haggar

Business Strategy & Development Dpt. Head

Ms. May El Haggar joined Acumen Asset Management in February 2014 and has extensive experience exceeding 14 years in equity analysis in the MENA markets with coverage spanning several sectors including financial institutions, pharmaceuticals and industrials.

Before joining Acumen, May was Director of Research at Naeem Brokerage and was heading the financial institutions sector team.

Prior to Naeem, she was the Assistant Head of Research at Okaz Stockbrokers Company.

Ahmed Farouk

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Ahmed Farouk joined Acumen Asset Management in May 2015. He holds the position of Head of Operations in the company.

Mr. Farouk started his career in 2002, as a Senior Operation officer at Sigma Capital (Securities, Book Keeping and portfolio management). Following, in 2006 , he joined EFG Hermes and gradually progressed in positions up till Vice President for Treasury and Capital Market Operations by the end of 2013. In January 2014 Mr. Farouk join ServFund Co. for administration services as Operations Manager & Deputy COO.
