IMF Raises Egypt’s GDP Growth Forecast

The IMF, in its most recent World Economic Outlook Report for October 2021, raised Egypt’s 2021 GDP growth forecast to 3.3%. Their 2021 forecast was 2.5% in April 2021 and then 2.8% in July 2021. They forecast Egypt’s GDP growth in 2022 at 5.2%. As for inflation, the IMF sees it reaching 4.5% in 2021 and 6.3% in 2022. The current account deficit is expected to drop to 3.9% in 2021 and 3.7% in 2022. Unemployment is expected to reach 9.3% in 2021 and 9.2% in 2022. Note that the IMF also lowered their projection for global growth in the same report.
