Suez Canal Revenues Reach Record

Giving More to Your Wealth
24 Aug 2021

Revenues from the Suez Canal have reached a new record in FY20/21, recording USD5.8bn, which represents a 2.1% YoY increase. This comes despite the canal blockage that happened that year due to the container ship Ever Given getting stuck for 6 days, and the subsequent disruption in the canal’s traffic. During the period between 20 January 2021 – 20 August 2021, revenues increased by an impressive 11% YoY to reach USD3.9bn. It is worthy to note that about 15% of global shipping traffic passes through the Suez Canal.
